Brussels Jazz Orchestra

The BJO brings jazz with a dynamic orchestral sound, rooted in jazz tradition. The musicians are above all excellent soloists, leaving room for improvisation.
It is this "orchestrated passion for jazz" which inspires the BJO to produce music at its highest level.

Alongside its own productions, the BJO works with a number of (inter)national artists, building a strong reputation both domestically and internationally.

The Brussels Jazz Orchestra is recognised and subsidised by the Flemish Community since 1999.

The BJO has worked with Philip Catherine, Bert Joris, deFilharmonie, Toots Thielemans, Brass Band Willebroek, Tutu Puoane, Brussels Philharmonic, David Linx, Vlaams Radio Koor, Veerle Dobbelaere, Michael Herr, Michael De Cock, 't Arsenaal and Richard Galliano on their own productions ..
The BJO has invited the following artists: Maria Schneider (US), Kenny Werner (US), Dave Liebman (US), Dave Douglas (US), Gianluigi Trovesi (IT), Gustavo Bergalli (ARG), Norma Winstone (UK), McCoy Tyner (US), Maria Joao (Portugal), Kenny Wheeler (GB), Lee Konitz (US), and more.

Frank Vaganée is artistic director of the ensemble together with one of the other founders from 1993.
